A laptop that shows only a charging light is not in the same state as one that powers on with a black screen. - visible electrical damage
Do not continue charging a swollen or physically damaged battery just to complete a diagnostic step.

Can this tool tell me exactly which laptop part is broken?
No. It narrows the troubleshooting path based on the laptop’s behavior. A model-specific hardware diagnostic or professional test may still be needed to identify the exact failed component.
Should I replace the battery if my laptop only works when plugged in?
Not based on that symptom alone. First check whether the battery is detected and whether it passes the manufacturer’s battery diagnostic. A connection or other power-path problem can produce similar behavior.
Why does shutdown timing matter?
It tells you how far the laptop gets through startup. A shutdown before the manufacturer logo, after the logo, during Windows startup, or after heat builds up belongs to a different diagnostic stage.
Why does my battery stop charging before 100%?
